Universal Login System for the Internet

I feel very skeptical about giving all my information to just anyone. Sure you have to show your license to buy alcohol or cigarettes but you get it back and put it in your pocket. It is yours and it is with you at all times. They did not copy it or have enough time to memorize it before giving it back to you. Of coarse some places do require photocopies, but these are very well known and trusted places. Like the RMV, the bank, your insurance company, and of coarse the government. I am against making one form of id to access all kinds of websites. Not all websites are reputable; there are criminals out there. Heck, I could make a website right now and require the universal login. Then I would be able to get all your information and who is going to physically stop me from using it to my advantage? I only want trusted websites to look at my id. For all these third party websites I am going to make up a username that way you do not know all my personal information and if it is required, well then i simply will not open an account with that website. If you have an account with Facebook, Twitter, Google, and/or any other reputable site then these are mostly interchangeable anyway as far as blogging is concerned. Other websites should utilize this feature, but there should not be one universal login system because if this system were to be compromised there would be create a huge dilemma
